CDI – Development engineer functional design of combustion devices (H/F) ArianeGroup

Job Description

The French-German team Components Engineering for Combustion Devices (JTLD2) provides the conception, layout and verification of liquid propellant combustion devices as well as heat exchangers. In particular, this encompasses also the identification and pre-development of advanced and innovative combustor and heat exchanger technologies and design solutions. This work is performed in close collaboration with the product management and other engineering disciplines, as thermo-mechanical or fluid-mechanical engineering.

In this context, JTLD2 is looking for a functional development engineer responsible for the functional design of gas generators managed within the perimeter of JTLD located at the site of Vernon (France - Normandie).

Mission & Responsibility

As functional development engineer for combustion devices within JTLD2 you will be responsible for the functional layout, performance evaluation, functional anomaly treatment and functional test support for the following portfolio of products at different stages of their life cycle:

• Gas generator (GG)
• Pre-burners (PB)
• Main Combustion Chambers (MCC)
• Heat Exchanger (HE)

In particular, your mission will comprise following tasks and responsibilities:

• Functional concept studies for combustion devices including trade-offs and dimensioning
• Detailed functional layout of combustion devices and their functional envelopes in close cooperation with the product management and in line with system requirements, with the aid of 1D and CFD tools
• Treatment of functional anomalies related to products managed within JTLD
• Preparation and analyses of combustion devices tests
• Contribution to component and system level reviews, keypoints, working groups etc. related to the combustion devices managed within JTLD

Profile

• Master degree or equivalent in mechanical or aerospace engineering
• First professional experience, preferably in the field of liquid propulsion
• Sound knowledge of computational fluid dynamics tools and 1D correlation methods used for the analyses of injection, combustion and heat transfer devices
• Sound knowledge of liquid propulsion and combustion devices
• Autonomous, proactive attitude towards resolution of problems
• Team player with the ability to collaborate with people from different disciplines
• Professional appearance, assertiveness and flexibility in a French-German project environment
• Fluency in English
